LED的发明历史

在1955年时，美国无线电公司（Radio Corporation of America）的Rubin Braunstein发现了砷化镓（GaAs）与及其他半导体合金的红外线放射作用，而1962年美国通用电气公司（GE）的Nick Holonyak Jr则开发出可见光的LED。不过，LED真正的起飞是在1990年代日本日亚 (Nichia Chemical Industries Ltd.)的中村修二(Shuji Nakamura) 于1994年和1995年，在氮化镓(GaN)研究方面获得重大突破，获得了蓝光LED，继蓝光LED技术突破后，白光LED正式启动了广泛的LED应用的时代。
